As part of its commitment to promote capacity-building at high level across the continent, Harvard University is awarding scholarships to deserving students who are resident citizens of Nigeria and member states of the African Union or of African Commonwealth countries as per the following criteria belowDegree Level: Scholarships are available for pursuing master and doctoral programme.Available Subject: Scholarships are awarded to study the subjects offered by the university.Scholarship Benefits: The financial assistance application is used to consider prospective students for:
Dean’s and Kennedy Fellowships: These fellowship awards include a minimum of full-tuition, which may be augmented by need-based scholarships, depending on individual financial need.
Public Service Fellowships: These up to full-tuition and possible stipend fellowships have been established by alumni, friends and former president Lawrence Summers to support students who are committed to working in public service.Eligibility: All prospective students are encouraged to apply regardless of any financial need.Eligible Nationalities: All incoming students, Nigerians and African students are eligible to apply.Application Procedure: HKS offers fellowships for which admitted applicants are automatically considered and therefore do not submit a financial assistance application.Deadline: The application deadline is May 24, 2018.APPLICATION FORMTRANSCRIPTS
Submit transcripts from all post-secondary institutions you have attended. Transcripts must be submitted through the “Uploads” tab on CARAT. Transcripts must show the grades and course titles for all your post-secondary coursework. Copies of diplomas are NOT required.LETTERS OF RECOMMENDATION

An academic essay and a personal statement must be submitted through the “Uploads” tab on CARAT.
Academic Essay: Briefly describe an important issue relevant to your field of interest and your country, where possible. Propose a theoretical framework or strategy to address this issue. Applicants seeking admission into the Special Student or Visiting Fellow GSAS Programs should use this academic essay to describe their research and attach a description of their relevant coursework. Minimum 500 words, Maximum 1000 words.Personal Statement: Tell us something about yourself ” in particular, why you wish to study at Harvard University and how doing so connects with what you have done in the past and what you plan to do in the future with your career in Africa. Applicants seeking admission into the Special Student program should use this personal statement to explain how coursework and research opportunities at Harvard University will strengthen their doctoral work and teaching at their home institution. Minimum 250 words, Maximum 750 words.
The Academic Essay and the Personal Statement should be typed in a standard font and font size (10 to 12 point). Essays should also be double-spaced.
