Computer giant, HP (Hewlett-Packard) has announced the launch of two devices in India. Interestingly, company hasn’t given complete details but hinted that the devices will be affordable and aimed at the emerging markets. They are dubbed as HP Slate 6 VoiceTab and Slate 7 VoiceTab, differentiated in terms of their screen sizes.
It’s not the first time, HP has launched a smartphone or a tablet, but company hasn’t launched devices in the near past ever since its Palm acquisition failed. HP tried to enter into smartphone market with Palm’s WebOS, but it wasn’t able to compete on functionalities and usability. Prior to that, it had launched phones running on Microsoft’s Windows Mobile platform.
However, now the company has launched the devices based on Android.
Technical Specifications of HP Slate 6 VoiceTab and Slate 7 VoiceTab
Design: The tablets will feature a pixelated back cover.
Thickness: The Slate 6 will be just 9mm thick, while the Slate 7 will have thickness of 9.5mm.
Display: They will come with screen size of 6-inch (1280 x 720 pixels resolution) and 7-inch (resolution of 1,280 x 800 pixels) respectively.
Processor: Powered by quad-core CPU’s, however there is no mention about the chipset and its clock speed.
Memory: The devices will offer internal storage of 16GB with an expansion slot for additional storage of up to 32GB.
Camera: At the back, they’ve a 5MP camera while a 2MP camera is at the present.
Connectivity: As the devices are focusing on developing markets, they will offer dual-SIM support with 2G/ 3G cellular networks along with the standard features of Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and GPS.
Operating System: The VoiceTab’s will run on Android version 4.2 Jelly Bean.
Availability details of HP Slate 6 VoiceTab and Slate 7 VoiceTab
The company states that the devices will go on sale starting next month, however haven’t revealed any details about its pricing.
