Liebster Award

Hello Lovelies!

I found out today that I was nominated for a Liebster Award by a sweet fellow blogger over at Country Road Abode! What is a Liebster Award?

Liebster is a German word that can mean many things, but most commonly refers to someone being the sweetest, kindest, most pleasant, loveliest, most welcoming, etc person they know.

It is given by bloggers to newer bloggers who have fewer than 200 followers as a way for newbies to network and get to know people. It helps share their blog and reach more followers. How cool!

It kind of works like a chain letter, or one of those silly questionnaires that you may have found on MySpace or Facebook when you were in middle school. Call me crazy, but I think they’re kind of fun!

So basically, what a Liebster Award nominee needs to do is:

Acknowledge the blogger who nominated you and display your award.

Answer six questions that the blogger gives you.

Give six random facts about yourself.

Nominate six blogs (with 200 followers or less) that you think are deserving of the award

Let the bloggers know you nominated them.

Give them questions to answer.

My Six Questions

1. What’s your favorite thing about where you live?

The people we’ve met! We’ve only lived here for 6 months or so, but we’ve made some really great new friends. They are certainly making is easier to be far away from family.

2. What is your favorite post you’ve ever written? (leave a link!)

3. What is the worst job you’ve ever had?

I was a waitress at The Cotton Patch Cafe when I was in college. I had been a waitress at a steakhouse in high school and liked it, but I hated working at the Cotton Patch. I guess I finally figured out how rude people can be and that I didn’t want to be walked all over or looked down upon for being a waitress. Plus the tips were awful (and I don’t mean to brag, but I was a freaking awesome waitress! haha)

4. Do you collect anything?

Does prepping count as “collecting?” , I “collect” food and water and toiletries. I also “collect” flashlights, candles, batteries, knives, and “camping” supplies lol

5. What is the best compliment anyone has ever given you?

Whew. Seriously, who came up with these questions? (Ahem, Jody!) 😉 I guess the ones that stick out the most are the ones where people tell me I’m a good mother, especially when it comes from the most random of people. Sometimes I hardly feel adequate, but when I get sincere compliments like that it makes me feel so much better. Maybe I’m doing an OK job after all ,

6. How far away from your birthplace do you live now?

About 4 hours. Not too far.

Eleven Random Facts about Me

I don’t usually get embarrassed for myself, but I do get very easily embarrassed for other people. I can NOT watch American Idol in the early episodes without turning bright red in my own living room. Those poor people.

I’m a clean freak and I love everything in my house to have a place. Clutter is a no-go around here. Having a 14 month old is certainly a challenge.

I’m crafty, but I don’t have the attention span to finish my projects before I want to start something new. I still haven’t finished my wedding scrapbook…4 years later.

I’m a huge advocate for car seat safety. Strap those kids in RIGHT! ,

I never thought I’d make a good stay at home Mom. (And some days I STILL feel like I’m failing), but most of the time I think I’m doing a pretty good job considering my personality ,

Very rarely do I tell people about my blog. If they happen to come across it themselves, great for them… but I don’t bring it up.

I wear the same pair of cheap-o Claires pearl earrings Every. Single. Day. (Until I lose one…and then I grab another from the 3-pack… and then when those are all gone I buy a new pack…)

I love to prep! (Who would have guessed that one, right?) It may or may not have taken over my life… Just ask my husband. ,

I once had the nickname of “Q-Tip” because I’m tall(ish), skinny(not so much anymore), and have white-blonde hair. It didn’t bother me at the time, but I wouldn’t necessarily love for it to come back haha (Which begs the question “Why am I bringing it up?”….who knows)

That’s All Folks!
