Google has tried to capture yet another market segment as they launched Google Flight Search in India today. This news comes as a boom for the frequent travelers as it is expected to increase the competition in market and thereby helping consumers get better deals.
Google Flight Search promises a better flight booking experience with people getting a faster platform to plan travel. To access and use the Google Flight Search, all you need to do is enter source, destination and just choose the options available at your finger tips.
Just enter Destination, Travel dates and review the available flight options. Flight Search will intelligently choose the best options for you in terms of distance and expenses.
Google is also making use of their maps behind the flight booking concept.
Flight Search would allow searching and planning through visualization in form of a map which is seen first time in this industry niche.
For the starting, Google will not be getting into direct-booking and would be redirecting you to official airway provider sites and some booking sites where the best deal is available. But in future, they may also enter into direct bookings too. The special Book with Google option also allows user to book their ticket(s) without leaving the website.
Though Google is not handling direct bookings but still the response from flight information aggregators and Online Travel Agents would be something which we will see in near future. Also, they have done similar service for hotel bookings.
Right now, it seems that Google will be charging the aggregators or airlines by CPA (cost per acquisition). The officials said that they will be increasing their reach in this niche by including many airlines in future.
It is also worth a mention that ITA Software was acquired by Google 4 years ago who were in travel industry since 1996. We really look forward to see how Google Flight Search performs.
