THE reform of the CAP was highlighted in the European Parliament. George Lyon, MEP set down the parameters on the report he is drawing up on this subject during a meeting of the Agriculture Committee.Lyon recently visited Dublin for a series of high level meetings in preparation for this report.

THE AGM of the Charlie Smith Branch of The Labour Party was a historic occasion as for the first time ever in the branch’s history a woman was elected chairperson.
“Tonight is yet another laudable result for the Labour Party in Kilkenny, by the elevation of another woman to a leadership role in our organisation,” said Councillor Michael O’Brien.
He said that Labour had the best proportionate political gender balance from a woman’s perspective in The Dáil and in local government in Kilkenny.
