Helping Hand for Haiti A SPECIAL night of music will be presented jointly by the pupils of St Senan’s Boys National School, St Joseph’s Girls National School and St Patrick’s National School in the Community Centre in Kilmacow at 7.30pm on Thursday March 25th.   Among the many favourite numbers being performed will be the songs of the Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem.  Admission is €5 for adults with schoolchildren free. Proceeds of the night, including raffle, will be go directly to the Haiti Earthquake Appeal.

Philip O’Mahony dies suddenly

The death has occurred of Philip O’Mahony of Viper, Kells, Kilkenny.

Suddenly. Reposing at his home on Monday, 3pm to 7pm. House Private. Removal to Danesfort Church, arriving for Requiem Mass at 12 noon on Tuesday. Burial was afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

IN THE interests of patient care and as precaution, a ban

on visitors is in place at the Pre Discharge Unit (PDU) in Kilcreene Hospital, Kilkenny, in a bid to curb suspected cases of the Winter Vomiting Bug. All infection control precautions are in place. Relatives should contact the PDU prior to any planned visit. Relatives of patients are encourged to use mobile phones for contact instead of visiting. Please note that outpatients with physiotherapy appointments for the PDU should instead go to the Physio dept in the Orthopaedic Hospital, Kilcreene. The ongoing situation is being monitored by the management and infection control team on a daily basis. The hospital regrets this inconvenience but it is necessary at this time.

The death has occurred of Martin Connolly of 12 Barrowmount Drive, Goresbridge, County Kilkenny.

Reposing at Joyce’s Funeral Home, Borris with removal this Friday evening at 6.30pm to the Church of the Holy Trinity, Goresbridge, arriving at 7pm. Requiem Mass tomorrow, Saturday morning, at 11am. Burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

EVERGREEN tightened their grip at the top of the StCanice’s Credit Union Premier League with a 3-1 away win over AC Kilkenny.

Former Kilkenny City and Waterford United Joe Mulcahy grabbed a double for Evergreen while Jamie Owens got the other goal. Stephen Dowd scored for AC.

In a cracking Leinster Youths Cup clash in Carlow, FC Carlow and Freebooters ended 2-2 at the end of extra time. But in the penalty shoot-out it was Carlow who edged through 5-4 on p0enalties.
