Canon Rebel T5 Review at the Grand CanyonCanon T5 is a great entry level camera for DSLR shooting. The T5 Bundle features a carrying case, the camera, a standard efs 18-55mm lens as well as 75-300m zoom lens, a lanyard, charging device and memory card as well as a few other goodies. I have added to it with an ultra violet filter, polarizer filter, and I added on as well an adapter to connect the camera body directly to the viewer of a telescope. If you would like to record video I would recommend the Canon T5I, T6I or greater because the Canon T5 does not have an external microphone jack. In my case I usually just use for photography but if I was shooting Video I use the Canon Vixia which does have an external microphone jack. I also use an external sound board for professional shoots. So if you are using multiple cameras this will get the job done. The other major difference between the Canon T5 and T5I is the flip out screen not present on the T5I. This doesn’t bother me however as I mainly use the camera for photography applications rather then video and I use the view finder.
TheCanon T5 features 18 megapixels and an APS-C 22.3mm x 14.9mm sensor size with 3.06 zoom on the standard 18 – 55mm lens. 100-6400 Native ISO, 100-12,800 Extended ISO and weighs 24.3 oz with the standard lens. For Video Recording it includes full HD 1920 x 1080 resolution and supports several frame rates such as 30p, 24p, and 25p. Also it allows manual control of aperture, shutter speed and ISO for video recording with autofocus or manual focus.

It features a textured grip so it feels nice and secure in your hands. There are also a wide variety of presets and filters to choose from when shooting as well as special effects you can apply. However you can also set to aperture priority, shutter priority or manual mode to achieve precisely the image you quality are looking for.

I like to make use of the manual and priority settings as well as the manual focus to achieve the look I am going for under any conditions. You can adjust the depth of field, shutter speed and ISO however you need to get it just right. And when I have it hooked up to the telescope adapter those settings become very important.
Of course Canon has come out with upgrades from the Canon T5, the T6 and T7 have introduced formidable upgrades that are worth further consideration if you are considering a new DSLR.
