Springfield XD9 Mod 2 Review
The Springfield XD9 Mod 2 Subcompact Double Stack 9mm is an awesome firearm. I found this weapon because I wanted a 1911 styled safety grip in the 9mm platform that 1911 simply doesn’t offer. Compared to the Glock, the XD9 Mod 2 is equipped with both the 1911 style grip safety as well as the trigger safety. Fixed Iron sights make it an accurate and effective handgun. It has a chamber indicator as well as a rack indicator for your safety. I also like the trigger safety so the gun can’t be fired without both safeties depressed. Other than that there is no safety which makes this a great option for everyday carry. It comes with two magazines. On the double stack model it comes with one 13 round magazine and 16 rounds in the extended magazine plus one in the chamber. Wowee! Thats a lot of firepower.
It features an ambidextrous magazine release making ideal for both left and right handed shooters and also comes in different finishes such as solid steel. The Springfield line of XD also features a long line of other options in including 3.8, 4.0 or 4.5 service model, the barrel lengths also very from about 3″ to 5″ on the service model, double or single stack as well as calipers of 9mm, .40 or .45 to choose from. I love options, I wanted the stainless steel but settled for the 3.8 black model.
The Grip zone is comfortable and effective wether your hands are dry and you are calm or if you are stressed and sweaty or wet. It does not bite into your hand like the Taurus pt 9mm and unlike the Taurus which has adjustable sights the Springfield XD9 Mod2 as well as the whole XD line feature fixed and very accurate sights right out of the box.
