Using HTML Features to Create Efficient Business Emails

Email service is one of the most frequently used services by business owners in general. If you want to create genuine and secure mail messages, there’s much more to it than just putting together a textual body and clicking on the Send button. In this article we’ll show you some easy HTML hacks for creating business-friendly emails.

Make pictures optional

Email users don’t want to waste their time on spam-like email content. Because of that, many of them block pictures in their email settings. That way they save their time and limit themselves to receiving content only from familiar sources.
But this might cause problems to email senders. If you’ve invested your creativity and energy into original, high-resolution images for a newsletter, some of your clients might never have a chance to see them.
Therefore, pictures in your email messages should be optional, i.e. the email should be persuasive enough even without images. If the textual part of your email is convincing and the HTML formatting is done properly, the recipient will be curious to see the images, as well.
Also, it’s recommended not to include any vital content features in images, since the receiving party won’t see them. An alternative is to support them with alt-tags, so that they show descriptions in case the pictures have been blocked by the client.

Keep the email width within 600 pixels

When it comes to email design features and HTML elements, business owners who are still learning HTML should stick to the width of 600 pixels. This will ensure that your clients don’t waste their time scrolling from left to right. If they need to do that to read the entire email, it’s highly unlikely that they’ll get to the end of that e-letter. As a result, they won’t be able to fully understand the intention of your email.
If you keep your email within 600 pixels, the recipients will literally have the full picture in front of them the whole time.
Also, in that case, it’s clever to stick with clear and simple email layout, i.e. not exceeding the number of three columns in the email. If possible, one or two columns of content would be a perfect measure for every efficient business email. A rule of thumb says that images should be placed on the left side, while text should go right. That way, the readers will sooner grasp both aspects of your email content.

Limit email to core messages

The textual organization of your email is extremely important when it comes to its resonance with clients and their response to it.
First and foremost, you shouldn’t overdo with the number of topics you cover in your HTML email. If your intention is to invite the recipient to a business event, the entire text you include in that email should refer to that very occasion. Avoid mentioning any other business features, as that will probably look too pushy and eventually repel the reader from the entire email.
Further, if your initial intention is to cover two or three different topics, make sure that they’re introduced and explained in a straightforward and efficient way.
Let’s say that you want to inform your clients what you’ve achieved in this business year. Such a newsletter is suitable for several topics, but again, don’t elaborate on more than three topics per email. For any other additional explanations, use an e-book or any other form that can be attached to your email.

Include CTA steps

Apart from informing your clients about your business, the goal of every business email is to call them to action. That part of your email should be clearly highlighted, so that the reader immediately spots the invitation.
One of the ways to do that is to write the tagline or the call to action in larger fonts.
Apart from that, you can include a link to a promotional video in your email. The link should lead either to your website or to a YouTube video. It’s important that the reader knows where the link will take them.
Also, you can call your email audience to visit your business brand in other online places, such as Facebook, Instagram, or YouTube, as well as your website. This will add to the credibility of your business emails and the entire business brand.
If the email includes any details on money transactions, it’s wise to add a link that will lead to your website. For instance, you can create a landing page where you’ll offer different payment options, as well as free invoice generators to your business clients.
Adding all these details in your HTML email will make it more efficient for your business communication.

Conclusion

You can use email messages for numerous business purposes. Apart from basic communication, they can serve as newsletter couriers, brand promoters, event invitations, any much more. While doing these things, try to go a step further and learn more HTML details about cleverly devised business emails. This guide will help you achieve some of these goals and make your business use of email more productive.
