How To Install ClockworkMod Recovery for Galaxy S4 I9505 | AndroidEgis

The ClockworkMod recovery has become a best modification tool for Android devices by kaushik, it’s always been popular to install custom ROMs, kernels, MODs and tweaks, even you can use CWM recovery to perform backups and wipe. Not a while ago a senior XDA developer ported the

variant and now he has ported it to Galaxy S4 I9505 variant too.

This guide shows you how to install ClockworkMod recovery for Galaxy S4 I9505, please not that it’s an experimental build as for (18 April 2013). You need a Windows PC with USB phone drivers installed, you can use Samsung KIES to install drivers but disable KIES before installation because it may disturb installation.

DISCLAIMER: Please proceed the below guide at your own risk, Android Egis will not be held responsible if your device lost data or gets damaged following this guide. So think before you try it over your beloved shiny SGS4.

Step #1: Download the latest version of Clockworkod recovery for Galaxy S4 I9505 from [XDA Link].

Step #2: Download (Odin3_v3.04.zip) to your PC.

Step #3: Unzip the downloaded Odin3_v3.04.zip file into a folder.

Step #4: Open the folder where you’ve unzipped above file and run Odin3 v3.04.exe.

Step #5: Turn the device off.

Step #6: Reboot the device into download mode, to do this, reboot phone by holding down volume down, home and power buttons.

Step #7: Once you’re in download mode plug the device to PC using USB cable. Odin will detect the device, ID:COM will turn yellow and a message saying ADDED will appear. (Note: If Odin doesn’t detect the device, make sure that USB drivers are properly installed on your computer).

Step #8: Click on PDA Button and locate tar.md5 from the folder that you downloaded in first step like (CWM-i9505_EXP1.tar) where you’ve unzipped above files in the step 2. (Note: Don’t make any change, just make sure that re-partition is unchecked).

Step #9: Click on Start button to start installation, once the installation done, your device will reboot itself and you’ll see message saying PASS (Note: If Odin refuse to install the update and show message FAIL, or get stuck, close the Odin and unplug device, then pull out battery from the device for a few seconds. Then put the battery back to the device and reboot into download mode. Then install the firmware again.

Step #10: Unplug phone from PC.

That’s it, the ClockworkMod recovery is now installed on your Samsung Galaxy S4, if you experience any error, leave a comment. Dosnt work. Getting stuck while trying to get into Recovery… the TWRP version works kinda… i can get into the recovery menu… but i cant choose Advanced, Install Zip, etc… only can use data factory wipe and reboot…

So it seems there is still some work going on to get things working. Good Job anyway
