How to Root Verizon Samsung Galaxy S3 | AndroidEgis

Verizon has added a new member to Samsung Galaxy S3 family and those of you own a Verizon Galaxy S3, love to customize the device and now thinking what they ought to do with newly purchased smartphone, here’s something interesting.

Before you customize your Android device, the first thing you have to do “root”, rooting will void the restrictions of Verizon on the device and enable you to do everything with your smartphone. Here’s guide to root your Verizon Galaxy S3, the root method is similar to other device but you have to do some more steps for unlocking the bootloader due to some Verizon limitations, thanks to hardworking XDA developer member

Before you get started first no keep in mind that this root is just for Verizon Samsung Galaxy S3 model number SCH-i535, don’t apply it any other model. Disable all system tools such as Samsung KIES, antivirus, firewall program, please make a backup of your device data such as SMS, internet setting, contacts music files etc because the below procedure may wipe data, you can sync your contacts with Gmail account and for messages use , lastly use

apps. The phone drivers should be installed on your computer, if you haven’t installed the drivers and install on the computer.

Step #1: Download following required files to your computer from : Odin3 – Blank System.img – Rooted System.img

Step #2: Unzip the downloaded Odin file into a folder.

Step #3: On your PC run the Odin3 v3.07.exe that you got in step 2 by double clicking on it.

Step #4: Turn your smartphone off.

Step #5: Reboot the phone into download mode by holding down volume down, home and power buttons until a warring message appear on the phone, then press the volume up button, it will enter the device into download mode, an Android logo with downloading message will show up which means device is in download mode.

Step #6: Once you’re in download mode plug the device to PC using USB cable. Odin will detect the device, ID:COM box’s color will be changed, and a message saying ADDED will appear (Note: If Odin doesn’t detect the phone, you have problem in device drivers).

Step #7: Click on PDA Button and locate blank.system.img.tar that you downloaded in first step (Note: Don’t make any other changes in Odin, just ensure that Re-partition option isn’t selected.

Step #8: Click on Start button to start installation, once the installation done, your device will reboot itself and you’ll see message saying PASS, once the device is rebooted, it may stuck at Samsung logo, don’t worry, just unplug it from PC (Note: If Odin show a message fail or gets stuck, unplug the phone from PC and remove batter from it, then put battery back to device, close Odin, then put device into download mode and install the file again).

Step #9: If your device isn’t stuck at Samsung logo, simply put in download mode but it device stuck at Samsung logo just remove battery from the phone, then put the battery back to device and put it into download mode by following step 5.

Step #10: Make sure that Odin is close on computer, if it’s open, close and then re-run the Odin.

Step #11: Once you’re in download mode plug the device to PC using USB cable. Then in Odin window once again, you’ll get a message saying added. Now simple click on PDA button and select rooted.system.img.tar file that you downloaded in step one, don’t select blank.system.img.tar and then click on start button to start installation, once it done device will reboot, it will reboot normally.

Step #12: That’s it, unplug the device from PC.

You’re done, your Verizon Galaxy S3 is now rooted, now you’re able to flash all root required apps such as custom ROMs, MODs, tweaks, non-market apps and more, if you faced any problem, you can comment below.
