One of the first anime titles to really break ground in the US was Space Battleship Yamato, AKA Star Blazers. A Japanese live action film was recently made and San Francisco’s 4 Star Theatre will screen it. Hopefully it’s more Pacific Rim than the live action The Last Airbender.
