I was looking up a new word the other day – . And I was surprised to find out that vernacular can apply to photography as well…
Wikipedia describes
as:
“…the creation of photographs by amateur or unknown photographers who take everyday life and common things as subjects.
Examples of vernacular photographs include travel and vacation photos, family snapshots, photos of friends, class portraits, identification photographs, and photobooth images.
Vernacular photographs are a type of accidental art. The photos taken by the common man that have uncommon qualities to them.”
Next time you meet that Fashion Photographer at a social event, you can rub that vernacular photographer in his face, chance will be, he won’t know what it means!!
“Hello, I am a Fashion Photographer! And I am a Vernacular Photographer”
