Facebook’s former designer Mr. Ben Barry has recently published few scanned copies of book named as “Little red Book”. You won’t get images of this book anywhere else on internet except few popular sites like ours.
This amazing book has got weird quotes regarding the history of Facebook & its culture. Considering which, it was only shared by Facebook with its employees once the company achieved (1-billion-users) land mark in the year 2012.
Barry was the one who founded (Facebook’s-Analog-Research-Lab), a “print studio” located near the building of Facebook’s Menlo Park. I also want to bring this in your notice that Mr.Barry was known as the (propaganda-minister) while he was working in Facebook.Also check:
In accordance with Fast Company, the equipments of print Lab were available for almost everyone, who wished to develop something by their own & lab also taught employees stuff regarding physical print.
In one of the posts on the site of Ben Barry, the designer stated that the reason why this book came out was that Facebook has experienced many different challenges by
“explaining [the] company’s mission, history, and culture to new employees” & that
“a lot of formative company discussions and debates had happened in Facebook Groups, over email, or in person.Those who had been present at the time had context, but for new employees that information was difficult to find, even if you knew what you were looking for.”
The original (little red book) was published by Mr. Mao Zedong, who is the founder of “Chinese Communist Party” & it had quotes, writings and speeches by him.
It looks like that it was an attempt made by Facebook to invoke the version of Mao Zedong with its own because of a reason that there were many similarities were found in both the versions.
Furthermore, if we talk about Facebook’s version of little red book, it provides the information on the internal culture of Facebook and I would say that its a must read even after looking at just few snippets of this book.
However, I am sorry to tell you that the only way to grab this book is to become an employee of Facebook somehow.
