Monrovia – Senator George Weah, the leader of Liberia’s opposition party, Coalition for Democratic Change  (CDC) is known for many things, but political attacks are not one of them.

Report by Willie N. Tokpah,

The footballer cum politician turned the tables recently when he launched a scathing attack on the standard bearer of the Unity Party, Vice President Joseph Boakai.

Addressing supporters in Gbarpolu County over the weekend, he said the Vice President is politically unfit to in the formation of Liberia’s future.

“I can’t blame Joseph Boakai because he is an ex-rebel leader, a former rebel general of Lofa Defense Force,” he said.

“When I was telling young soldiers to drop their arms, VP Joseph Boakai and his men were still holding arms. ”

” Vice President Joseph Boakai is not part of the future of this country that we are looking for.”

The Coalition for Democratic Change standard bearer noted that Liberia needs a leader who understands the struggle bulk of the population faces, a quality which VP Boakai lacks, he said.

“He spoke in France to a magazine and I brought it to town and shared it around.”

“He said that the government failed because the president employed her children, but how did Joseph Boakai separate himself from Unity Party?”

According to the CDC’s strongman, Boakai remains a failure to the country, recounting his alleged dismissal from the LPRC during the administration of Samuel K. Doe in the 80’s.

He said the ideology that young Liberians are incompetent to head the Liberian Presidency is being permeated by Boakai and his allies in an attempt to rob Liberia of its human resource.

Sen. Weah told miners in the gold mining region of Jungle-James Camp that it was due to the government’s inability to cater to their needs that they have to resort to mining.

“The last time I lived in a hut was in 1975 to 1979 when I was living in Sass Town, Grand Kru County.”

“Today you are still living in huts and Joseph Boakai doesn’t understand the kind of condition you face, if you tell him to live there, just in one hour he will pass out,” Sen. Weah pointed out.
