Xperia Ray 4.4.2 Kitkat Update Via Carbon Rom

Sony Xperia Ray is Sony’s one of the most wanted phone ever.This is launched with Gingerbread os which is now too old after Kitkat version release.This is a good news for Sony Xperia Ray users that they can also update their phone to Kitkat 4.4.2 via a custom rom Carbon rom.This rom is having some new change log and some kitkat tweaks.Let’s update Sony Xperia Ray 4.4.2 Kitkat via Carbon Rom.

1-For Sony Xperia Ray 4.4.2 Kitkat Update , you should have a original Sony data cable.

[Make sure your Sony Xperia Ray 4.4.2 is rooted and has the latest CWM or TWRP recovery installed on it.]

2-Now install USB drive of Sony. If you don’t have, download from >><<3-Charge your phone’s battery upto 80%.Phone’s bootloader must be unlocked.4-Please make a backup of all your user data such as Messages,Call logs,Contacts,Apps data. Because rom install process may wipe out all data.5-Now enable USB debugging by navigate to Settings>>Developer option>>USB Debugging.

6- Now download these Rom files.

7-To flash the kernel, you have to use Fastboot mode of your Sony Xperia Ray. To go into fastboot mode, switch off the device. Now by holding Menu button, connect the phone to PC. As soon as PC recognizes the connection, phone’s LED will turn blue & it should boot into fastboot mode.

8-In PC, make a folder & name it as ‘Fastboot’. Using 7 zip or WinRAR software, extract fastboot files zip package to this folder.

9-Open Carbon ROM file. From its root folder, extract ‘boot.img’ file to desktop for easy access.

10-Move ‘boot.img’ file to Fastboot folder.

11-Open Fastboot folder & Run ‘runme.lnk’ file. This should open a command prompt window. Enter the following commands in that window.

fastboot -i 0xfce flash boot boot.img

fastboot -i 0xfce reboot

12-After entering 2nd command, your phone will be rebooted. It may not reboot properly and may get stuck on Sony logo. But don’t worry! This is normal.

13-After that ,Disconnect the phone from PC.

14-After following above steps now connect your phone to PC & copy above download file to your phone’s SD card root folder(In Plain sight ,not in any folder).

15-Now disconnect Sony Xperia Ray Kitkat and switch off it. Now turn on it by hold power button and volume up button at same time till phone makes a vibrate.

16-Now you are in CWM recovery mode.

17-Now create a backup of your original rom which is installed on your phone at that time,To make a backup,Select Backup and Restore option and go to next screen,Select Backup option again.After complete your backup, go back to recovery menu.

18-Select option to clear all your data.

19-select and click from advance option.

20-Now go back in recovery menu and select option.

21-Now choose rom zip file and install it.

22-After that do same steps with G apps zip file and install it.

23-Now you are done. Select option and click on reboot system now.

After update xperia ray 4.4 kitkat,If you wants to go to previous rom of your phone then boot into recovery and select backup then go to restore option,Restore your previous rom by selecting from the list.
