Question by SuNshiNnee**: Android G1 (Google Phone)?
Hello everyone!
The problem is that my phone got locked or blocked and now I can’t unblock it. As you all know is asking for the unlocking code but I don’t have it, I don’t even have the T-mobile SIM card. The problem will be that I got the phone as a present and now I’m in Mexico so I have no idea how to get it. I found some places where I can get it but is charging me 20 – 25 Dollars, is there a way I can get it for free or if you guys have the code and can share it. (does that even work, womeone elses unlock code?) I hope you guys can help me out on this one.
Thank you for your time and attention. Have a great day.

Answer by shmootz5Unfortunately, unlock codes are specific to your phone’s serial number or IMEI, as it’s called. So, no, you will nto be able to use someone else’s code. If you attempt to use someone else’s code, you will have the chance of locking up your phone :S
You will most likely be able to request an unlock code from T-Mobile if you have been with them for more than 90 days. You should ask them how much it costs first before going somewhere online. Or, if you have a friend with a T-Mobile account, ask them to call for you…
If you are not happy with their pricing or unlocking terms, and if you need it unlocked for free, I have had good experiences with a site called http://www.freeg1unlockcodes.com where basically you complete an advertising offer in exchange for the unlock code (see the source link for an article written by freeg1unlockcodes themselves regarding the process, which I found useful). If this is not for you, feel free to buy one on other sites, but for people like me who cannot afford it, FreeG1UnlockCodes was a great solution.
Just click on the link below or head to their site to start the process by clicking the “get it free button” located on the right sidebar:
