is finally official as the . This is Sprint’s first Android device to support Nextel’s Direct Connect and we expect it will be marketed on the company’s Boost Mobile brand.

Like other recent Android phones from Motorola, the hardware and specs of the i1 are from last generation. Users will find a 528 MHz processor running Android 1.5.

Sprint is hoping to market the Motorola i1 to the working crowd by hiring Mike Rowe () as their spokesperson and highlighting the device’s rugged build. The Motorola i1 meets the Military Spec 810F for protection against blowing rain, dust, shock vibration,

temperature extremes, low pressure, salt fog, humidity and solar

radiation.

i worked in the building industry for 7 years, through highschool and uni, and if there’s one thing that i’ve learnt is that Touch screens are not suitable for “working crowd”

This is funny! i can imagine you hands full of dirt and concrete, or wearing your gloves, phone struggling to register your touch, and u scared to use it so you dont scratch the screen with ur dirty fingers!

So, Motorola’s first foray into adding a 1 at the end of a phone name. Surely HTC won’t stand for this?!
