Triple O’s at Orchard Towers

Today I want to write about Triple O’s. In particular, the one at Orchard Towers, right beside 7-11. For 6 simple reasons:
1) chicken and waffle
2) burgers
3) beer
4) sweet potato fries
5) root beer float
6) they seem to be almost always empty despite the great food

I’ve been there twice. First time I was there, I just wanted a burger. But then I realized they serve chicken and waffle. Now if you work in the same office with me, you are probably by now a bit tired of how I rave about trying chicken and waffle at The Beast. (I went there one day after Triple O’s, it was worth it. Especially the Bourbon maple syrup. Totes.)

Back to Triple O’s. For those who are not familiar, it is this Canadian fast food chain that sells burgers, mainly. Including breakfast burgers, which I have yet to try. They have several outlets in Singapore, but I’ve only been to the one at Orchard Towers twice, because my office is close by. And no I don’t work in the same building. Just in case. If you get it.

On my first visit, I had chicken and waffle. Just because it ended my search for fried chicken and waffle, not the messed up, fusion-fail type at Canopy. I was pleased. It came with 3 chicken tenders, a crispy waffle and BBQ sauce. The portion was not too big, but sufficient for a small meal. I had root beer with it. Just because they had root beer float too (!) but I didn’t want the ice cream. Should’ve gotten the ice cream. Damn.

So on my second visit today, I brought 5 colleagues with me to try it out. Amongst us we had the double cheese burger, the original burger, the vegetarian burger and the chicken burger. When you order, the first thing you will notice is that they don’t do sets like other fast food chains, i.e., package the fries and drink together. The pricing of burgers are all a la carte, with a top up for combo.

Second thing you notice is the guy at the cashier. He’s clearly not Singaporean and he’s often the only one working the till. I’m guessing he’s the franchisee and is trying his best to manage the place with minimal labour. Which shouldn’t be too hard given it’s hardly packed most of the time, which, again is a shame. You should really go try. Instead of the cheap food in the basement. Or MacDonald’s across the road. Seriously.

The burgers were big. Not as big as Carl’s Junior, but bigger than Burger King and definitely about 40% bigger than the burgers at Mos Burger. They serve beers too, I only remember Heineken in the fridge, but they are less than 10 dollars so maybe it’s also a good place for dinner and drinks.

Here goes, just to have an idea of the presentation. Pictured image shows milkshake, sweet potato fries and unwrapped breakfast club burger and wrapped veggie burger.

I checked if everyone enjoyed their burgers – everyone loved it, with one guy talking about “protein” almost everyday giving it a respectable 8/10, except the chicken burger because there was some dissatisfaction about the sauce. Even the vegetarian burger was well received. So there you go. Go try. I will not geek out about the ingredients, for that you can check their website.
