Since Microsoft uploaded the Windows 8 download links this week, every user got a good chance to download it and burn a disc/save it to any external drives like hard disks, USB devices etc. And finally tried to the superior view of the Windows 8 by installing it on their systems. Here I will show you how to get the Windows 7 start menu for Windows 8.

From FAQs it is to be noted that some found it creative and good but some disliked it. There is a plenty to like Windows 8 but some users did not like the start menu look. I love using windows 7 in my systems mostly the search box in the start menu which  is really useful and great for searching the applications installed and other type of resources.

But it is fully vanished in the new Windows 8. Many users want it back as in Windows 7. So, I have rendered a solution for the users to get the older view of start menu in Windows 8.

Steps to Change Windows 8 Start Menu:

  1. Open the registry editor (window+r)
  2. Enter “regedit” in the box and press enter
  3. Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ Software\ Microsoft\ Windows\ CurrentVersion\ Explorer
  4. Then, open RPEnabled
  5. Change its value from 1 to ZERO
  6. Finally, tap Enter and you’ll be donewindows 7 start menu for windows 8

This change will be done immediately as you tap Enter or press OK. Then, click the windows button on keyboard two times to see the result (first click will slide the Metro start screen back into view). And you will then see the old start menu as in Windows 7.

But after this change in start menu you will not be longer able to see the trademark sign of Windows 8 whenever you log in. You can also see an interface like Windows 7 desktop after this transformation.

I hope this solution works for you and you are satisfied by this trick. Please give your feedback on this post if you find this useful and tricky.
